A new year, a new wave of artists. We've been keeping an eye out on these guys and thus far they're on the right track. Some of them are side projects and some of them were impossible to research, but we got the job done. Check out the bands that you should keep an eye on.
WU LYF - World Unite/Lucifer Youth Foundation has been actually around for a bit but being such a secretive band has slowed down their acclamation process here in the States (altho, they did play Letterman last year). Their sound is heavy yet hopeful and their chant-like vocals will make you want to do frolicking of sorts. Also, for a band that has a lot of keyboard and synth usage, their drum work is on point. They released their debut album last year, and it was pretty damn good.
Friends - They're overall style is similar to The Naked and Famous but with a more positive pulse of funky glitter disco. Friends hail from Brooklyn, and got their creative juices flowing when the 5 bands members were forced to share the same living space after a bed-bug fiasco. The incidental result produced the following:
Las Ardillas - Las Ardillas have been around for over 10 years, and they've just released their self-titled album. Procrastination? Not quite. Las Ardillas share two members with Puerto Rico's garage rockers Davila666, which probably makes time management difficult. Their sound is also similar, but perhaps a little darker/heavier.
Citizens - The London quintet look like your average skinny, handsome, well-dressed indie band but the proof is in their pop. Unafraid of blending dreamy melodies with pop-noir beats, these guys have a lot of imagination and soul. They've just sign to France's iconic Kitsune and have Alex Kapranos (Franz Ferdinand) producing their debut album.
Boogers - This French one-man-band is so bloody difficult to find information on, but the relentless search has given some fruition. His music an overall feel-good indie rock with clever hooks and beats. His music is very mood interchangeable as you could easily go on an afternoon bike ride or dance like a crazy. Check out his music here, our favorite track is "Broke My Bones", had it on replay for a bit.

Burns - I think that the singular-word artist name has replaced the "The". Hurts, Grimes, Battles, Friends, Boogers, Citizens... get my drift? There's a new one to add to the list. He's an English producer that goes by Burns, and he's definitely blowing up in the electronica scene. His sound is a sort of an aggressive intelligent house music, and with a recent remix of his track "Iced Out" by Calvin Harris, he is soon to catapult among the up-and-comers.
Leidi Li - Li Saumet is the leading lady of Bomba Stereo, and she's now creating her own tracks. Thus far she's released the chill and down-tempo confessional "Mate A Mi Novio", and if wasn't for it's homicidal lyrics it would be a great meditation song. We're excited to hear more.

The Minutes - Oh look, a band with a "The" prefix. The reason for this is because they take it a little more old school. Rock n' roll is their thing, actually more like "rawk n roll". If you took Thin Lizzy, Tom Petty, and a little of the Queens of the Stone age, that would be The Minutes. Truth be told, this might not be for organic rock n roll enthusiasts but the Dublin band has been getting a lot of love recently, apparently due to their impressive live shows and instrumental talent. Word on the street is that the band's lead singer, Austin, shreds on the guitar.
