7-year-old Nathaniel still doesn’t know how to read yet but has inherited his eccentric old Auntie Eleanor’s collection of books. He discovers that the tomes are inhabited by all the many heroes found in children's literature. These first edition manuscripts shelter every original fairytale character ever encountered in literary history and they are all counting on him for protection.  If the books ever leave the library, they will disappear into oblivion and leave the world without stories forever!  When his parents unknowingly start selling off the collection to an unscrupulous antiquarian, Nat must brave everything to save his tiny friends by deciphering a secret incantation. But how can he do this when he cannot read?  With the help of Alice in Wonderland and the White Rabbit, he accepts the challenge.
