Sweeter than sugar itself, Belanova's 4th studio album, Sueño Electro I, is, like all their other work, a sweet mixture of pop & electronica. This synthpop band from Mexico has millions of people swept off their feet and dancing the night away to their energetic beats.
When I heard their previous works I became a fan in a heartbeat. Now? I'm not sure. They are becoming a bit repetitive. I feel as if I've already heard these 10 tracks.
On the brighter side, Belanova shows off their English speaking skills, with thick accent and all, which can be found in various songs, like "Tic Toc". It's nice they took the risk, considering they have many English speaking fans, because after all, music is universal.
"Nada de Mas" is the first single released from the album and speaks about the hopeful return of an ex. This track, as well as others in the album, like "Solo Para Mi", "Chica Robot", and "Necio" are songs I highly recommend listening to. The hyped electronic pop found in this dream makes you feel as if you traveled to outer space.
With this production, Belanova emphasized on their electro-candy-pop genre and also experimented with french melodies. But my favorite track has to be "Tu y Yo", the ONLY slow track. I guess the title is self explanatory but I enjoy the soothing and soft piano beats mixed with a graceful voice, it's just a perfect melody.
Sueño Electro I is the perfect example of a good, dynamic, electro pop album in which the singer sings about tender love and honest heartaches and more. The catch; it's not your everyday, ordinary, sappy love song. Another type of love can be heard in Belanova's lyrics. It's about daydreaming and going to the acme of the sky for that special someone.
As repetitive as I said it was, I still consider this album is as dulcet and pleasing as everything in a candy store (just like their previous work!). Get your own copy and give yourself some cavities!
