Finally, music that describes Latinos in every aspect of the word; fun, spontaneous, different and finally, someone we can call our own, Mr. Pauer.
Toto Gonzalez, who goes under the alias of Mr. Pauer when he's strutting his work, is a Venezuelan born/Miami resident, who has flipped the Miami DJ scene around and with his twist and innovation gave this scene a whole new meaning. On February 15th, Mr. Pauer will debut his first production titled Soundtrack, a seven track album that will give you a better understanding on why he's pretty much loved in the sunshine state.
Soundtrack is just that, the soundtrack of Mr. Pauer's life; a combination of world traveling, wide variety of musical influences, and the cultural diversity of ambiance that surrounds him. Soundtrack can be described by Mr. Pauer in one simple word: electropical, and I dare to add, dynamic, assorted, and exceptional.
In the opening track, Cucu Perucu, we encounter Pauer's traveling influences. The soft melody is inspired by a trip that Pauer made to Thailand and is fused with the amazonian cumbia of Peru. It's a three in a half minute track that flew me to Peru-Thailand-and-back without the need of feeling jet-lagged, just pleased.
In the following track Mr. Pauer recruits Itagui, singer of Miami's own Grammy nominee band Locos Por Juana. They say karma is a bitch, but not in this case, Itagui and Mr. Pauer have a friendship that go way back, and as a result of Mr. Pauer mixing for Locos Por Juana, Itagui has joined Pauer in this journey by adding his spunk in Cumbion del Sur. While Itagui delivers powerful lyrics with his impacting and addicting voice, Mr. Pauer is mixing an 80's based melody combined with la guira, charrasca, and acoustic snare drums; just imagine the party these guys get started!
Considering he's an all out eighties kid, Pauer finds a splendid way to introduce bands such as Depeche Mode and Radiohead to his electropical, look no further, because Mr. Pauer's variety of musical influences over shine in a little gem found towards the end of the production called Maybe Always. Depeche Modes synthpop and new wave blended with Radiohead's alternative and experimental rock blended with Mr. Pauer's electronic cumbia, resulted in an exquisite creation.
Mr. Pauer's exuberant talent has always been and will be recognized, respected, and admired. Soundtrack is just an opening and welcome for the rest of the world to catch a glimpse of Miami's own prestige DJ, Mr. Pauer.
