I hate run-on sentences, but I love run-on albums.

De Juepuchas is an experimental/electronic project from Bogota, Colombia.  Inspired by the music of I.M.S, LCD Soundsystem, The Pinker Tones, Girl Talk and more, you can pretty much have an idea on what type of killer mash-up to expect.

Musica Ilegal con Sabor Chispitas is their 19-track goodie bag in an album.  Why would I compare this to a run-on sentence?  Well, I began listening to the intro and next thing I knew, without any heads up, I was already enjoying track 14.  This 'no silence in between tracks' thing can easily compare to El Chombo's Cuentos de la Cripta 2 (yea, don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about).

Although, El Chombo and Juepucha can both start a party at any given second, De Juepuchas are way more creative in the form they make music; combining it with the mundane, such as old hits and loads of sounds and rhythms we've heard at least once in our life.

For instance, "Te Estoy Queriendo Cada Dia Mas" is a 40 second transitional track that captures the guira in an enjoyable cumbia, which is fused with the following track "El Ritmo de la Cocina, El Telefono, El Radio", which mixes telephone/television/radio effects and the sensual Lambada by Kaoma, making it an unforgettable journey through outer space.  One of my favorite tracks is "La Internacionalizacion del Helado" which is De Juepuchas own giddy and bright version of the kid's song Sammy el Heladero.  I also enjoy "Juepucha!", for it's innovative use of video game sounds with the use of the old school ringtone The Entertainer, which can clearly explain the sound used at the beginning of the track, the sound you hear when your cell is near the computer and you are about to receive a text or call.  "Quinito en Islandia" is another favorite, it's a mix of cumbia, tropical flavors, a soccer game, and Garibaldi's Banana.

How can I not fall in love with this album, if all it does is take me back in time to the most memorable days of my childhood?  "LFC" is just another example, with it's electronic and revolutionized version of the theme song of El Chavo del 8.

You don't know cool until you listen to De Juepuchas!
