Venezuelan-based band, Desorden Publico, keep proving they are the kings of Latin ska.
Desorden Publico have released their latest album "Los Contrarios." A production which the members are very excited about and can be considered a celebration for the bands 25 years of talent, dedication and commitment with fans.
15 tracks make up "Los Contrarios", capturing Desorden Publico's purity and signature ska sound, a sound they are very much recognized for all around the world. "Musica de Fiesta", the second track in the album, is the song that mostly fits the authentic ska rhythms which Desorden Publico are primarily known for.
What I enjoy the most in "Los Contrarios" is the fact that Desorden Publico play with different genres and sound and manage to incorporate ska and rock. For example in "Preludio a Los Contrarios", you can taste one-minute of trova influenced guitar strokes, then followed by the soft reggae in "Los Contrarios." One of the tracks that musically stole my heart was "Tierra de Gigantes," due to its calypso beats and overall energetic feel. Cumbia is the genre that mainly makes its cameo throughout the album, whereas, genres such as salsa, bolero and cha cha cha, like that found in "Llora por un Dolar", are also found in the album.
Desorden Publico have their creative way of mix and matching music and making it fun and they also have their special techniques covering songs, like they did with The Clash's "City of the Dead," a cover very much admirable and precise. Not only do they experience with a broad amount of sounds, make sweet covers, but "Los Contrarios", also counts with the collaboration of other artists, such as "El Poder Emborracha," a track which counts with the collaboration of Ruben Albarran from the Mexican rock band Cafe Tacuba.
