Don't pass me the sleeping pills, this album gets the job done.

I've been a Babasonico's fan since 1999 album Miami.  For the past five albums, I've been drawn into a certain authentic sound that only Babasonicos have.  I honestly don't know what went wrong this time with the release of their tenth studio album "A Proposito."  Don't get me wrong, their lyrics are still intact and unique, but what happened with the melodies?  This album focuses on mellow-toned beats, and I'm used to the alternative side of the Argentine band.

Anyway, despite the big let down, "A Proposito" does have it's special gems that call my attention.  Beginning with "Barranca Abajo," a splendid, exotic tune with sweet instrumental strokes.  The first single off the album, "Deshoras", the heavy rock and roll influences found in "Fiesta Popular", and the nine-minute journey through different stories in "Muñeco de Haiti" are the only tracks that have that flair of alt-rock.  My favorite is "Tormento," a track that starts with a relax beat mixed with galactic sounds and later transforms into a fast paced fusion of percussion and engaging electro beats.

"A Proposito" is not what I expected it to be, but in the end, you can NEVER go wrong with Babasonicos.  Big respects to them and their long, successful trajectory.
