Consolers of the lonely hearts.
The Baltimore trio are back with their third album, On The Water. In this record they've taken the bpm's down a notch but its just as brilliant as it's predecessors and the perfect compliment to their earlier works. The lyrics still carry their signature broken heart elements, but this time around its like they're holding your hand and telling you that its going to be alright. Pretty much, every time you open up that little memory box in your heart this is the music that will automatically play while the little ballerina spins around.
3 Songs Worth Listening:
- "Before the Bridge" - the pulse, the rhythm, the bass line, the lyrics, the Ian Curtis vocal tinge... everything about this song flows perfectly.
- "Close to None" - Conveys the album title's meaning. The opening is as calm as a sea breeze. The ripple effect will make you feel like your running your fingers through the water. The splash cymbals... well you can guess.
- "Balance" - With lyrics like "And I can sit and talk, because I was just like you. So arrogant and brave, impetuous and blue. But trust me as a friend, I'll do all that I can do. I'd do anything for you, because I want to see you through. It just takes time" you can be sure to put this in your memory box.
This album makes me want to: dissect every one of it's elements only to realize that it's simply meant to be enjoyed.
