Florence and her machine make magic. Again.
Ceremonials is the arena-ready reincarnation of Florence + the Machine's debut album Lungs yet it's still an intimate album. Impeccable vocals without sounding overproduced, catchy hooks without being too poppy. The album manages to be very ear-friendly yet is still poetic. For an album whose expectations where high, Ceremonials surpasses them and wraps you up in it's soul. If there's one thing that keeps Ceremonials from reaching perfection is it's length. Perhaps Florence got a little too ambitious with it's duration, but one can't blame her because she has a good thing going. Yet another job well done for Florence Welch.
3 Songs Worth Listening:
- "Shake it Out" - Chosen as a single for a reason. It meets the sound of Lungs and Ceremonials half way with it's explosion of hopeful vibes.
- "Lover to Lover" - Carries the essence of Motown and gives a nice rest from the heavy soul-bearing that Florence gives off in the rest of the album.
- "Heartline" - Tribal and simply beautiful, one of the album's big anthems.
This Album Makes Me Want To: Sing my lungs out (no pun intended)
