Welcome to the not-so-wonderful world of Redford Stephens
undun is 13-tracks long yet it barely hits the 40-minute mark. It's incredible how an album with songs at an average of 2.5 minutes feels so long in length, and it's not attributed to boredom, rather the spirit behind undun is that of lifetime's worth of memories, and the story behind the album will truly draw you in.
The story is of Redford Stephens, and overall good guy fed up with the living the life of the poor who decides to move up in the world by pushing drugs. While the sound and production are impeccable and instrumentation is also great, it's Black Thought's (frontman) lyricism that makes this album incredible. Hope, despair, and demise are all beautifully captured, and in the end you feel like you accompanied Redford Stephens through his untimely ending.
3 Songs Worth Listening:
- "Make My" - Ever felt like a priest in a confession? Now you will.
- "One Time" - The rhythm section behind organically working behind Black Thought's delivery is brilliant.
- "Tip The Scale" - You feel the deepest sense of struggle, that moment in one's life when you're running to your goal but it feels like your going nowhere.
This album makes me want to: hear it all over again.
