Fresh sounds of Monterrey.
We've been excited about the rise of Nu Cumbia, electropico, and tribal guarachero for a while now. Musical styles that have bridged the gap between classic latin flavors and electronic beats. 3Ball MTY is comprised of 3 young Monterrey DJs .Their sound is comprised of club music inspired by regional folk songs and electro-house sounds, as well as elements of cumbia and Afro-Cuban beats. We love that they've blended the genres together and created a whole new world of music, however, they are still rough around the edges with songs aiming to sound too radio-friendly. The beats can get repetitive and, on other occasions, the synthesized high pitched phrases can be overwhelming. Don't get me wrong, most of the songs in Intentalo are dance floor ready but it'll take electropico and nu cumbia experts like Mr. Pauer or El Dusty to mix them properly, otherwise it can easily fall into a reggaeton category.
Overall, they shouldn't have a problem possessing people with this hypnotic beat and songs like “Intentalo” give a glimpse of what's to come from this new genre. Keep it alive, will ya?!
Songs worth listening to:
- “Intentalo”- Catchy synthesizer phrases, good rhythm and lyrics.
- “Solos Tu y Yo”-Interesting vocals, awesome chorus, Miami in a nutshell.
This album makes me: wanna dirty dance en el barrio!
