Cómo se extrañaba! Los Fabulosos Cadillacs decided to reunite after a seven year long split, and release an album featuring five new songs, six re-makes and two covers, all edited, revised and even viewed from a different perspective! "La Luz Del Ritmo" has their known rock/ska/jazz/salsa/folk/rap/reggae/funk/big band (gasp) sound with an even more infused twist. Is that even possible? well yes, I'm guessing that after years apart, only an explosion of sound and a collision of journeys can occur.
The album starts with the classic party tune with whistles and horns, and just listening to the whole arrangement with Vicentico's voice brings back memories... Seven years! Alright, alright, must get back on topic: I must say this track was a great way to start, and I didn't expect anything less from them. Right after this, we are transported into a funky version of "Mal Bicho", that is way more chill than the original. But I must say, the main thing I like about this song is that it sounds much better (quality wise) than the original one, and the record-scratching adds a little more hip twist to it.
I was surprised more than anything to hear them turn "Padre Nuestro" into a cumbia. It basically just made me raise my hands and revolve my hips, what else do they expect! an instant re-player. "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" is a ska-tastic spanish version of The Clash's hit. They go through another reggae track with "Muy, Muy Temprano", and they finish it off with "Condenaditos". This closing, with Dancing Mood, showcases the band in a melancholic-jazz state. A great closure.
