Yes! Federico Aubele is finally back and honestly not much has changed. His easygoing melodies, melodic acoustic guitars and his almost lazy vocals are still quite the same. After all, he is one of the top loungers out there. Frankly, I'm just glad I've got different Aubele tunes I can listen to, because he has remained the same and there haven't been any drastic changes. The least I can say is that he decided to put himself out there a little more and now he stars more in every track.
On to the tracks: "Del Ayer" layers phased backward-masked guitars in the background; plus a duet with the unlikely choice of Miho Hatori from Cibo Matto, who really ought to have been given a turn out front. The most bizarre cut here is the samba-inflected "El Sabor" with its layers of artificial, bubbling synth, early 80s Brazil. The cd ends with an acoustic guitar instrumental that offers more than a hint of a more stark, purist sensibility lurking here. It's not Piazzolla, but it's something you can put on at a party and nobody will complain – in fact, you'll probably have people asking you who this is – and it’s a good late nighty-night CD. But the songs fly by so quickly!
