by Kid Bomba After a few interesting “Vueltas” in the music industry spectrum, the beautiful Alejandra Alberti makes her much awaited return with a sound-defining album that stands out in today’s auto-tuned clustered world of Latin pop. In this album Alberti seems to enjoy taking us through an array of well selected songs that deal with love, tears.. life and all its “Vueltas”,
while embracing a folky, guitar-driven organic production ready to satisfy the most selective music critics.
The single “9:33” is little pop/rock-gem, and it has a well crafted music video worth highlighting that includes a snake, a tarantula, a monkey and a pair of mini-Alejandras who defend her from apparently all kinds of bad boyfriends. “Yo te Espero” is a different type power ballad that builds and explotes, mandolin included. The album title track “Vueltas” has a nice flowing country-bluesy sound and features a tasteful duet with songwriter Mauricio Sanchez. “Tu”, “Cometa” and other tunes complete this 11 track album that is the follow up to “Alejandra Alberti”, the self-titled debut album that put Alberti on the map and won for her a 2007 Latin Grammy nomination for “Best New Artist”. I’m sure this production will deliver more achievements for Alejandra’s career. These are “Vueltas” worth taking my friends. Enjoy.
