After the success of their first album, Mute Math comes back stronger and more defined with "Armistice" an album incredibly rich in sound and spirit. This band is bound to skyrocket, anytime now. If you haven't had the chance to experience them live, well they are coming to town soon, so get your tickets! Their show is absolutely impressive, (for an alternative band, of course) the lead singer Paul Meany is known to jump on his piano and do headstands, and yes, he even rocks the Keytar. Their drummer Darren King, should be an inspiration for drummers all around. He combines the best beats and is relentless, making everything he plays sound effortless. Mute Math's sound is fresh and elevated, catered to please the snobbiest of crowds without leaving behind the general radio-listeners.

But now, on to the album! As Paul said to the OC Register: "Our goal is to embarrass the first record, that's what we're trying to do here, and I think we're on point to pull it off." Starting with a daring song, "The Nerve" tells us to set it on fire, over and over again. This song, alongside their Twilight Soundtrack hit "Spotlight", could be considered to characterize their style, with running percussion, melodic keyboards, and ambient vocals. Their soft songs are insanely strong, (excuse my contradiction) like "Clipping", "No Response", and "Goodbye". The piano, violins, synths, all these combinations and Paul's pleading vocals--which, regardless of how sad their songs may be, always denote a sense of optimistic hope behind them--all come together to bring a delicious sound that is a pleasure to digest. The track "Armistice" adds clapping percussion and horns, which can only be attributed to their rhythm-rich influences back at home in New Orleans. Please, send us more bands like these! Take a look at the track-listing, and make a trip to Itunes soon!
