I hit play and start my journey in a world that goes fast and full of distractions. I listen to Alex Cuba’s music as a soundtrack that magically smoothes the journey of a regular day at work into a lounge, jazzy, funky and Latin trip to a Cuba up there in Canada where he resides at the moment.
The sound is straightforward with drums, guitar, bass and percussion here and there with a recording sound quality that makes things even better. The first song I had to hear twice right away was “Si Pero No”; one of those songs that you can’t do anything else but listening to the intelligent lyrics that reminds me of Kevin Johansen, Jorge Drexler or even Francisco Cespedes. Some of my other favorite tracks are “Fiesta Religion” which can make you dance even with its minimalistic instrumentation but a lot of color on Alex’s vocals. Other great tracks to listen to are “Amor Infinito”, “Mariposa” and the groovy “Tu Boca Lo Quita”. This is an artist to watch and follow. This album is a great piece for your music collection into a Latinized world sound.
