The one and only canadian neo-Sinatra Michael Bublé brings us old swing, jazz and big band tunes in better recording quality. That's what his music is all about, and he's damn good at it. On Crazy Love he seems a little more intense, picking songs to cover like the forceful "Cry Me A River" that sounds amazingly epic, (no, not Justin Timberlake's) his band is perfect and does one of the best interpretations of this song. Because truth is, if you don't agree with Bublé's voice you can always focus on choice of musicians, which is always superb. His famous co-written single is "Haven't Met You Yet", a romantic comedy hit that sounds a little cliché in its upbeats, but it works and hits the spot! mainly because of its honestly sweet lyrics.
His take on "All Of Me" (finally!) is swingy and fun. Weird, right? since it's somewhat of a sad song. But he does always look at songs completely different from old interpretations. On this album he takes a bite from "Georgia On My Mind", a song that has been covered countless times. His version is very soulful followed by soft blues piano melodies and strings. "You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You" keeps this soft drunken-night piano mood, that stops abruptly when we hear the strong beginning of "Heartache Tonight", a mix of big band and rock and roll. That's right, horns and a few guitar riffs make this song enormous, and his vocals go with it delightfully. He is known for keeping in touch with his bossa side, and he does so with the sweetest "Whatever It Takes", alongside fellow canadian Juno-award winner Ron Sexmith. Michael is multifaceted and can hit every mood the right way, give his discography a listen, you're sure to find a song for you. (Oh wait, he did do "Song For You"!)
