Los Fabulosos Cadillacs are undoubtedly one of the most influential rock bands from south of the border. They have done it all: unforgettable hit songs, innovative albums, earned prestigious awards and put out of the most successful reunion tours in Latin Alternative music history.
So what do you do in 2009 when you are LFC?... Well, I guess their answer is you mellow down, shave that mohawk and release a full length album of pop "covers" of your own songs. "El Arte de la elegancia" is the latest studio work from LFC made of 2009 versions of songs from earlier albums. If your favorite LFC song is "Matador" or "Malbicho" then you would probably find these pop tracks easy to digest, fun, even playful. Now, if the most played LFC album on your I-pod happens to be the masterpiece
"Fabulosos Calavera" or "La marcha del golazo solitario" (like myself), then I wouldn't be surprised if you take it personal and find yourself crying outloud: "Why did you allow this Sr. Flavio? Vicentico? Why? … I guess the elegant "going-pop-a-lo-Cerati" effect is more contagious than the swine flu down in Patagonia nation.
In any case, these are los Cadillacs! And they apparently want to be back for another 20 years if possible, cueste lo que cueste.Track highlights: "Contrabando de Amor", "CJ" (my personal fav), "Tanto como un Dios" and mass-appealing version of "Surfer Calavera".
Los Fabulosos Cadillacs are said to embark in a massive promo tour starting next year. So hopefully I'll get a chance to catch them live and request a fan explanation for this album. In the meantime fabrikeros, go and buy/download your copy because after all… again.. these are Los Fabulosos Cadillacs!
