Robi Draco has gone back to his roots, done some soul searching and attempted to create (once more) love anthems that can sweep people off their feet and soften up the toughest hearts into tears. The result is "Amor Vincit Omnia", a recording masterpiece of universal proportions in which Draco explores love and all of its demons through poems turned into songs that flirt with "son", "bolero" and other root rhythms, but never loses Draco's rock/blues feel. His voice has never sounded better than when it's accompanied by acoustically organic instruments (acoustic guitar, cuatro, string arrangements) and in this album he pays tribute to that fact, for our sonic delight. It’s like The Latin version of Beck has released his "Sea Change" with a "clave" behind each track, just to make it even better.
Track highlights: ALL OF THEM! "Paraiso prohibido" is the single, but is not better that "Espejismo", "Libre que te quiero libre" or the corta-venas “Reza por mi”.
Draco just finished a series of sold out concerts in Puerto Rico presenting the album and he will be embarking in a long tour through the US, Central and South America and Europe in 2010.
On a personal note, this is the album that has finally turned me into Draco’s music and even made me forget he was once a Menudo. A very difficult task to achieve.
