You might know this Argentinean band from a song called "Don" released around 2004 or so. After this they had another hit featuring Julieta Venegas in a song called "Perfecta" and they recently came out with their seventh album, "Es Imposible." This album brings the same flavor that identifies classic Miranda but adds a little softer touch in some songs. This one just might make them a little more noticed in the music biz.

Miranda is not for everyone. Like the hardy beef Argentina is known for, Miranda is a little hard to digest. However, once you hear what they propose and listen to it a couple of times you actually enjoy it a lot, at least I do. For example the first track, "Mentía," which translates to "I was lying"… Ale Sergi, the band's frontman, lies to his ex-girlfriend about the "good terms"of their separation, but like any other stalkarazzi ex, he follows her around like a jealous puppy. The song has a very pop sound almost retro, very addictive lyrics and I think it introduces the album pretty well. The second track "Lo Que Siento Por Ti" is an attention grabber and it will automatically make you think of the musical "Grease" but in a Spanish version of course…weird! I know…but pretty interesting indeed. It has a very catchy beat on the bass and makes you wanna dance right away. Now let's talk about "El Showcito", Maybe the most electronic song in this album and definitely the kinkiest too. It's super fun to listen to the lyrics where he practically asks this girl to dance for him while he watches silently. It might be the first song of this album that gets stuck in your head and you will find yourself singing it to a friend just for fun. What's different about this album is that they offer a softer melody on some songs… less electronic beats, maybe a little more acoustic approach to what Miranda offers. And you can clearly appreciate that on "Tu Misterioso Alguien" which has a more elaborate lyric that you can actually pay attention to because there's nothing else distracting you but a guitar and some percussion. And the same thing happens on "Si Pudiera Volver" which still has a hint of electronic beats but tries to keep it focused on the lyrics and the guitar. You might find this next song a bit different from the rest. "Entre tus brazos" is a little slower than the others but is one of my favorites. I find it very romantic, especially because is the song where Juliana Gattas, the female singer, has more presence and I love her soft voice. My only complain of this album is that they don't give her enough overall protagonism. This is an album that you have to give at least one shot… And then another one… And then another one. I know Miranda hasn't had that many hits specially here in Miami but it's a band that has kept their originality with that retro electronic feel and I value that a lot. I'm sure you're going to enjoy it… so go check them out.
