It has been a long musical career for the Rock and Roll pianist and singer and for more than two decades and after producing many lovely albums comes Confia.
Confia has to be the most optimistic and colorful album I have heard in a long time. It was recorded between the months of July and December of 2009. Páez traveled many different cities in Argentina and other parts of the world to gain musical inspiration. It is his first album since Rodolfo in 2007 and includes 12 new and fresh tracks produced by the master himself.
The first track on the album is titled after the album, "Confia". It is a track rather upbeat and jolly (like most found in the album). The message sent is powerful: Without confidence it is hard to be happy. In the end, all you need to do is learn how to trust, have patience, love, and let yourself be loved.
His frivolous side can be heard in the track titled "M&M". I thought it was a song about only the best chocolates in the world but instead, it is a song about two girls. The lyrics focus on the comparison of two completely different girls that live in two different cities with different beliefs yet do and say the same things. It was sort of tricky to decode the lyrics, but my best shot is that "M&M" is groupie related, don't take my word for it tho.
One of the slow paced songs I suggest checking out is "London Town". A beautiful melodic beat with a nostalgic substance about refusing to look in the past and comparing it to the foggy days in London.
If you want your short and simple dose of Fito, "Limbo Mambo" is for you. A two minute song that relates to the positive outlook of love and life. It is a track full of good energy, no need for redbull after this track.
In "Fuera de Control", Páez experiences with spanglish. The guitar riff throughout the song make it the edgiest track on the album. The song is about life in the city and how many things are prohibited and out of control.
In this album, Páez was surrounded by a band composed of young musiscians, something he is doing for the first time and that is one of the main reasons this album is fresh, lively, and full of optimism. Confia is an album that literally shows you "El lado amable de las cosas". As Fito recently said, "Soy un hombre de 47 años que ha visto un montón de cosas en la vida, pero sigo creyendo que se puede encontrar una flor en el pantano"
I simply love him. Fito Páez is a music legend for a reason and Confia is just another way to prove this point.
