Cali band mainly known for it's frontman's upcoming Broadway debut as Spiderman, their debut also strikes the musical chords.

I had previously heard of Carney a couple of month's back when I saw the video for 'Love Me, Chase Me', starring Evan Rachel Wood (It was around the time where she was in every video possible). The video was quite alluring, and the song really caught my attention. Before listening to this album, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect to them, as the results could be from either side of the coin.
Kicking off Mr Green Vol 1 is 'Love Me, Chase Me.' The song opens with a soft guitar riff with drums picking it up, then Reeve Carney's voice snakes in like sultry smoke - almost. However, as the song progresses they properly achieved a mysterious feel with adept instrumental sound that has rock n roll essence with a vintage feel.
The next two songs are kinda weh-weh, and I was dreading the thought that the rest of the album would result the same. Luckily, 'Amelie' proved to be a rather sweet light-hearted surprise. If you've ever gotten the feeling of just riding a bicycle through the streets of Paris and turning heads as you pass, then this is your song. (Yeah ok, it's not exactly an everyday feeling, but maybe occasionally...).
My hopes thoroughly recovered with 'There She Goes' another melodic piece containing cymbal crashes that hit the spot. As the album goes on 'Think of You' brings a light air to the album. Very reminiscent of Jeff Buckley, the song does well at intertwining the soft strings of the guitar with the light pounds of the drum, and Reeve Carney's airy voice.

The album only comes in at 8 tracks long, but that's ok because it's hard to say whether it would be better longer, or just lackluster. Their good at sound accretion and explosions mellowed by "oohhs" and "aahhs". Now don't get me wrong, I'm a total sucker for alluring background vocals, but by the time you get to the 7th song, you may be dulled by it since its already expected. There is definite potential for them, and if they grow for Vol 2, then they might have a great piece of work in their hands.
