By Claudia Camargo There is nothing more delightful then when a friend introduces you to a new artist and you instantly fall in love with it. Not many people have heard of Audio Bullys, the duo from the UK. It has been a while since we last heard of them, but now they are back and stronger. They bring us Higher Than The Eiffel, which will surprise more than a few, I know it did surprised me.
This album is not just a matter of merely music. The duo put together this album in a 6 month period with hopes to reconnect with the fans, the clubbers, the gig goers and the people who listen to this music and make it part of their lives. After a long 4-year hiatus where Simon Franks and Tom Dinsdale worked trough some issues, the two managed to pull it together and recorded in the Audio Bullys house in Hornsey, North London. Higher Than The Eiffel is a compilation of 14 tracks with sounds that range from Beatles stoned vibes shifted to a new place, disco beats-n-brakes and hint of ska grooves. They had to risk it all in this album to either score big or fail big, and in my opinion they scored big time. “Only Man” is their lead single, and oh boy! What a lead single. This is the perfect example of a perfect blend of British underground sounds and a strong worldwide beats. Throwing it a little more old-school, and half way into the album, I bumped into “London Dreamer”. This single had a tad more of a psychedelic hip- hop sense to it, yet its beats made me feel and taste the punk attitude in it. And for us electro-house heads; “The future Belongs to Us”.
